Last of the Holiday 2008-9

Not enough pixels to register the moon, the top of the Union Square Christmas tree and the tower thingy there. Looks slightly poetic though. Bye bye holidays

This Tree Is Made of Bread.

Yes. It is. Thorough Bakery and Pastry on Church Street has this really cool tree in their window. You can pass it without noticing but if you happen to notice the sign next to the bread tree tells you about it. It is more interesting than edible.

Hunnikah Tree

Christmas has been under harshest criticism for many years. Even though the initial efforts to thwart this terrible (!!??) religious holiday failed the efforts to eventually secularize it are always around. The Hunnikah has been the biggest contender and has failed so far. One can look at it in many ways but most of all if you look at this picture you see why Christmas still kicks ass. The decorated pine tree is the high point of may be 85% of the population every year religious symbol or not.

A Genuine Holiday Picture

The true spirit of holidays.
The tree thing has always been great and the retail store is the American soul of the end-of-the-year holidays; finally, they can stand side-by-side. The religious stuff has been taken out of the tree and now it is 99% what it was always meant to be in America: A really cool symbol to mandate multitudes of proftiable sales transactions. It had to happen someday. It was inevitable to have a religous symbol in the middle of the American culture and not Americanize it. What a relief (!!??)
