My Favorite Neon Signs

The Thai restaurant not featured here has about a dozen neon signs in the windows! It is actually a fancy white tablecloth restaurant! The only one I liked is this one. I think it is the blue color neon Corona and the palm tree that got my attention. Then again who knows.

Not Cool Restaruant: Puncho Villa

Puncho Villa was one of my top places for great Mexican food in SF for a long time. They seemed to have a great setup and consistent product. It was good-enough to always have a line of patrons in and out of the place. All of this changed a couple of years ago when they expanded to the SF waterfront. It was good news at first they had a branch here but soon word spread how bad their food was. This judgement was not in comparison to the original location but in general to any Taqueria. I am due for a revisit to check their status. You should try the original location on Mission sometime.

Cool Restaurants: Sai Jai Thai

This is a good little eatery (aka bargain restaurant) to know of. As all cheap restaurants, they do somethings right and others they have no clue. The menu and the food quality is quite good for the price. The lighting, the tables and the smell (stench??? to some) have definitely skipped their minds. What peeks my mind is I found out on good account long time ago that the staff here eat all customer left-overs systematically. That was odd and shocking at first but then I had to order enough to have ample left-overs. I just couldn’t eat their food and not leave anything behind. Some of the dishes are made for that. I know I have to blackout the restaurant name eventually but here it is for now.

Everything else is manufactured and only meet the minimum standards for food, service, etc. At least they are interesting the first time.
